JED (Jaringan Ekowisata Desa) welcomes universities, lecturers, and academic institutions to co-create meaningful field learning programs in Bali. Our member villages are not tourism objects — they are living classrooms managed by local communities who share their knowledge, practices, and lived realities.

Why Partner with JED

Community-Led Learning

Our educational programs are developed and delivered with the people who know their villages best. Students learn directly from community members through authentic conversations, lived experiences, and local perspectives that cannot be replicated in a classroom

Field-Based & Contextual

From indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage to sustainability and community development, our villages become living classrooms where theory meets real-world practice. Every visit encourages critical thinking, reflection, meaningful engagement

Meaningful Partnerships

We believe educational travel should create value for everyone involved. By working together with local communities, your program contributes to community-led initiatives while fostering respectul knowledge excange and long-term relationships.

Customizable & Academic-Oriented

No two courses are the same. We work closely with lecturers and institutions to understand your learning objectives and co-create a program that complements your curriculum, academic focus and desired outcomes

Voices from Our Visitors

Our Villages, Friends’ Stories

What I enjoyed most about JED was their focus on the people and their stories over the physical location itself. I learnt from people who were in touch with their land and community, and was able to observe their daily life away from the bustles of the city. Our tour was led entirely by local women from the village passionate to share their home with us. JED’s sustainable tours are the perfect way to step out of the over-touristed areas and experience authentic Balinese culture while supporting local communities. Highly recommend!

JED is doing such important work in such beautiful, meaningful, inspiring ways! I just spent the morning with the Adat Dalem Tamblingan (ADT) team, exploring the rainforest, canoeing the lake, and learning about their community forest and water conservation efforts. Please support their work and help them in their struggle for state recognition by contributing to JED and or joining them for an ecotourism experience. Highly recommended!

JED and the Nyambu village tourism community made sure we were well looked after and had a great experience. If you’re coming to Bali, make sure to check out JED and their sustainable tourism options!

JED does not offer study tours. We facilitate knowledge exchange between academic institutions and living communities.

Our villages are partners, not case studies.

Learning That
Benefits Everyone

Our villages are home to generations of knowledge. We’d love to learn about your academic interests and explore how we can co-create a field-based program where knowledge is exchanged with respect, curiosity, and mutual benefits for both your institutions and our communities.
