About the Village
Perancak Village is a coastal community in Jembrana Regency, western Bali, where marine conservation, rich cultural heritage, and traditional fishing traditions continue to thrive. Surrounded by mangrove forests and the Bali Strait, the village offers authentic experiences that connect visitors with nature and local community life.
Perancak is best known for the Kurma Asih Sea Turtle Conservation Center, a community-led initiative dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles through conservation, education, and hatchling releases. The village also holds historical significance as one of the places visited by Dang Hyang Nirartha during his journey to spread Hinduism across Bali.
Visitors can explore the village’s preserved mangrove forests, witness traditional Madura fishing boats along the coast, and experience the powerful sounds of Jegog, Jembrana’s iconic bamboo gamelan. Other cultural landmarks include Sumur Bajo, an ancient freshwater well linked to the seafaring Bajo people, and a sacred tomb that reflects the village’s enduring spiritual heritage.

Established through collaborations with WWF and the Wisnu Foundation, the Kurma Asih Sea Turtle Conservation Group works to protect nesting turtles, safeguard their eggs, and raise awareness about marine conservation. In 2018, the group became a member of the JED (Village Ecotourism Network), welcoming visitors to learn about community-based conservation and sustainable coastal living.
