About the Village
Adat Dalem Tamblingan is an indigenous customary community whose territory encompasses the Catur Desa, Gobleg, Munduk, Gesing, and Umejero Villages—in Buleleng Regency, Bali. With an area of approximately 7,061 hectares, the region is dominated by the forest known as Alas Mertajati and Lake Tamblingan, one of Bali’s cleanest lakes, surrounded by pristine tropical rainforest, sacred springs, and rich biodiversity.
For the Adat Dalem Tamblingan community, Alas Mertajati is regarded as the source of life, believed to be the origin of the water that sustains downstream communities and a place of profound spiritual significance. Guided by the philosophy of Piagem Gama Tirta, water is revered as a sacred source of life that must be respected, protected, and preserved for future generations.
The Community Who Hosts You
Ecotourism experiences are managed by BRASTI (Bhaga Raksa Alas Mertajati), a community organization established through the Alas Mertajati conservation initiative with Wisnu Foundation. BRASTI was created to ensure that the indigenous community remains the primary steward of its ancestral landscape while improving local livelihoods through sustainable ecotourism.

The program involves the Adat Dalem Tamblingan community, BRASTI members, youth, women, local guides, and residents from the four customary villages, who work together to preserve their ancestral landscape while sharing their knowledge and traditions with visitors.

BRASTI was established to protect Alas Mertajati and Lake Tamblingan. Through ecotourism, the community not only generates sustainable income but also strengthens efforts to conserve their ancestral landscape and support the recognition of Alas Mertajati as Indigenous Forest.
