About the Village
Pedawa Traditional Village is one of Bali’s Bali Aga villages, located in Banjar District, Buleleng Regency. Covering approximately 1,378 hectares, the village is surrounded by forests, plantations, and natural springs that have sustained the community’s way of life for generations.
Believed to date back to the Megalithic period, Pedawa continues to preserve its traditional Ulu Apad (Ulu Desa) governance system, ancestral customs, and living cultural heritage. The village is renowned for its Bandung Rangki traditional house, traditional palm sugar making, traditional games, and sacred rituals that reflect the rich identity of the Bali Aga people. Through community-based ecotourism, visitors not only experience the authentic way of life of the Bali Aga community but also contribute to preserving Pedawa’s culture, natural environment, and ancestral heritage for future generations.
The Community Who Hosts You
Ecotourism activities are managed by the Pedawa Traditional Village community together with Pondok Literasi Sabih, Manik Empul Traditional School, and Kayoman as community initiatives dedicated to cultural preservation, youth education, environmental conservation, and the development of community-based ecotourism.

This ecotourism experience involves the Pedawa Traditional Village community, members of Pondok Literasi Sabih, Manik Empul Traditional School, Kayoman, youth, women, farmers, artisans, and local guides, who work together to preserve Bali Aga’s natural and cultural heritage while sharing their knowledge, traditions, and daily way of life with visitors.

Pondok Literasi Sabih, Manik Empul Traditional School, and Kayoman were established as community-led initiatives to protect natural springs, revitalize Bali Aga cultural heritage, and ensure that ancestral knowledge and traditions continue to be passed on to future generations. Through community-based ecotourism, every visit directly supports environmental conservation, strengthens cultural identity, and contributes to the long-term well-being of the Pedawa Traditional Village community.
