Welcome to the New JED Website: A New Home for Stories and Connections

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our new website.

Whether you are a long-time supporter of JED, a first-time visitor, a community member, a student, a researcher, or someone simply curious about village life and sustainable tourism, we are delighted to have you here.

This website represents more than a new look or a digital upgrade. It is part of our ongoing journey to strengthen connections between people, communities, and ideas. Since its establishment, JED has worked alongside villages across Bali to support community-led ecotourism, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable livelihoods. Throughout this journey, we have learned that meaningful tourism begins with meaningful relationships.

With this new platform, we hope to make it easier for you to discover the people and places that make up our network. Here, you can explore village experiences, learn about local traditions and landscapes, read stories from community members and partners, and gain deeper insights into the values that guide our work.

At the same time, this website is designed to be more than a source of information. We envision it as a space for connection and collaboration. A place where visitors can engage with communities beyond a single visit, where students and researchers can discover opportunities for learning, where organizations and businesses can explore partnerships, and where community members across the network can share knowledge and inspire one another.

Every village, community group, artisan, farmer, guide, and local leader featured on this platform contributes to a larger story, one that demonstrates how tourism can support cultural resilience, environmental responsibility, and community wellbeing when it is guided by local people.

As you explore this website, we invite you to look beyond destinations and experiences. Discover the stories, knowledge, and aspirations behind them. Learn from the communities that continue to protect their cultural and natural heritage. Consider how you might contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future for tourism.

Thank you for being part of this journey. We look forward to learning, growing, and building meaningful connections together.

Warm regards,
