Experience Tenganan Village

a cultural microcosmos

Wander the streets of this ancient fortress village with a local guide and learn how this place came to be so different from the rest of Bali – a difference strikingly evident the moment you step through the southern gate.

The stone wall around the village encapsulates not only homestead but unique customs, philosophies and craft, including the prized ‘geringsing’ weaving. You will quickly learn how strongly the theory of interconnected-ness rules here, from environmental management to gender relations, the layout and architecture of the village to patterns in the geringsing.
